Fading superpower?
Some people are predicting the demise of the US. While we cannot pretend to be fortune tellers, it appears as though the US is destined to be a world superpower, at least for the next 50 years. The arguments against the US being “the” superpower of the world include the growth of China and India, which are legitimate concerns. People who believe that the US is going to become only one of the major superpowers in the world point to history (for example, David Reiff). Britain, Spain and the Romans had their time to rule the world and they faded off into history as world superpowers. What will happen with America? Only time will tell.
